TopSpec® by WeatherBond PVC

TopSpec® by WeatherBond PVC (polyvinyl chloride) membrane can be mechanically attached or fully adhered and features many cool-roof attributes, which reduces a building’s energy costs.

TopSpec® by WeatherBond PVC is:

  • Puncture, fire and chemical resistant.
  • Complete line of prefabricated accessories such as walkway rolls, inside and outside corners, and pipe seals.
  • Designed with the most stringent quality control measures for long-term extended performance.

Energy Efficiency & Sustainability

As energy costs continue to rise, so does the need for energy-efficient roofing systems. TopSpec® by WeatherBond’s white, highly reflective PVC membranes can significantly lower operating costs by reducing air conditioning usage, minimizing the urban heat island effect and also slows the formation of smog-forming pollutants.

With inherently high reflectivity, white PVC membranes are ENERGY STAR® qualified, Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC) rated, compliant with California’s Title 24, and can also contribute toward LEED® credit requirements.

Strength & Durability

Composed of three layers – a PVC polymer bottom ply, a strong polyester or fiberglass-reinforced fabric scrim and a tough thermoplastic PVC-compounded top ply – TopSpec® by WeatherBond PVC is specifically designed for long-term performance. Because of its enhanced durability, TopSpec® by WeatherBond PVC is also highly resistant to:

  • fire and chemicals including acids
  • bases
  • restaurant oils and grease
  • offers increased wind resistance
  • has surpassed Factory Mutual’s I-90 wind resistance classification, one of the most stringent standards in the industry.

TopSpec® by WeatherBond PVC also resists damage caused by roof traffic and construction and ensures that your rooftop remains in ideal condition throughout the construction process.

FRS vs. Polyester Scrim Reinforcement

PVC membranes with polyester or fiberglass reinforcement have both been used with great success in roofing over the past 40 years. Due to its greater tensile and tear strength, polyester reinforced membrane can be used in either adhered or mechanically fastened systems, while fiberglass reinforced products are limited to adhered applications. Both reinforcements provide excellent dimensional stability, durability but only the polyester contributes to superior puncture, breaking, and tear resistance.
